Stupid Mutha-F'in Nature!

I'm warning you. I'm about to rant. I'm also about to get personal, so as Oprah says, "If you have children in the room, please make them leave now."

I am not on any hormonal birth control (i.e. pills or NuvaRing or similar.) I have an IUD, which I've had for several years, and I love it. For the most part.

I've been charting my monthly friend for the past few months, and guess what my pretties? Aunt Flo is expecting to come visit me June 10th. JUNE MUTHA EFFIN 10TH! Do the math. Week before wedding: raging PMS. Day of wedding: major cramps, major period, major why-the-hell-is-this-happening.

*big scream*

But wait, a light at the end of the tunnel. My naturopath explains that gynos can "jump start" the female cycle. I know she's right, because I had to have a shot to get my period to start once when it wasn't showing up (due to being on medication, all is fine & well now...)

I'm thinking to myself, OK, I'm good.

Call to make the appointment today, and explain my situation nicely to the nurse. "You see, I'm due to start my period on June 10th, 2 days before my wedding day. I've had a "jump start" shot before, and I need to do something similar again."

This total BEEA of a nurse immediately fires back at me, "Well MA'AM, there's no medical reason for you to do that. You aren't even on the pill."

REALLY? LADY. I KNOW. Help a sister out here, okay? Don't get pissed at me because your husband sucks in bed. I politely yet firmly say, "I understand that. But I really, really, really don't want to have my period on my wedding day. I'm sure you can see where I'm coming from."

She replies, "Well, I don't think the doctor will do anything for you, but I'll talk to her and call you back tomorrow."

Does she really want me to turn into a Bridezilla? Because I will. I really, seriously will get PMS Bridezilla on that nurse's ass and get very mean, very quick.

HEEEEELP MEEEEEEE!

Hahaha!

End rant. :)

  1. Hi Emily, I stumbled upon your blog while doing my own wedding planning and I've read the whole thing and I have to say, you are awesome! You make me laugh so hard, I totally agree with what you have to say about wedding planning, and I have to say, I love your taste in clothes/shoes, etc. Keep writing cause you are seriously funny. Good luck to you. Sounds like you'll have an awesome day! P.S: I am totally feeling your venue stress right now! I NEED to find one, like 2 months ago! Agh!

  2. Hi Lina! I'm so glad you enjoy the blog. I love making people laugh :)

I don't have a ton of readers, but I find that journaling/blogging has really helped me get my ideas out and vent about everything. I highly recommend it!

As for finding a venue, just know that you'll find the right place for you. If you're not getting married in your religious institution, I highly recommend a "combo" ceremony/reception venue. EASY PEASY. Really, the easier you can make things on yourself the more you will enjoy your day (and all the days leading up to the wedding, for that matter!)

GOOD LUCK to you! Take care!

  3. Ok 1) Just by the picture you used I already knew what this was gonna be about so kudos for the picture worth a thousand words entre. 2) This is gonna sound stupid, but can you borrow BC from someone? I know it will kinda eff things up period wise after the fact, but...happy bride = happy honeymoon. 3) I love you and miss you dearly and I am so happy your beautiful big day is coming...hopefully sans your special friend.
